Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. A representative from Exotic Mountains Treks will greet you and arrange your transfer to the hotel. The evening includes a briefing on the Island Peak climb.

Day 2:

Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m/9,383ft), Trek to Phakding (2,610m/8,562ft)

Take an early morning flight to Lukla, the starting point of our trek. After arrival, we’ll trek to Phakding.

Day 3:

Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,286ft)

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the commercial hub of the Khumbu region.

Day 4:

Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar

Spend the day acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar with short, beneficial hikes to aid acclimatization.

Day 5:

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m/12,664ft)

Trek to Tengboche, home to the largest monastery in the Khumbu region.

Continue the journey to Dingboche, a picturesque village offering magnificent mountain views.

Early morning attempt to summit Island Peak and then return to Base Camp.

Begin the descent from Base Camp to Pangboche.

Namche Bazaar to Lukla

Trek back to Lukla, the final leg of the trek in the mountains.

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

Do I need prior climbing experience for Island Peak?

While not mandatory, prior trekking and basic mountaineering experience are highly recommended. Island Peak is considered a suitable climb for beginners looking to transition into higher altitude mountaineering, but you should be comfortable with using climbing gear and facing physical challenges.

What is the best season for climbing Island Peak?

The best seasons are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. These periods offer stable weather conditions and clearer views.

How difficult is the climb to Island Peak?

Island Peak is classified as moderately difficult. It involves glacier travel, steep inclines, and the use of ropes. Climbers must be physically fit and prepared for the high altitude and technical sections.

What gear do I need for the climb?

How do we deal with altitude sickness?

Are meals provided during the trek?

Yes, three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided during the trek. Meals are typically Nepali cuisine but also include a variety of other options to cater to different dietary needs.

What is the accommodation like on the trek?

Accommodations are in teahouses or lodges, which offer basic, clean facilities for sleeping and eating. Expect to share a room with another trekker. Island Peak Base Camp may involve camping, depending on the expedition setup.

How long does the climb take?

The entire trip, including trekking from Lukla and the ascent of Island Peak, typically takes about 15-16 days, including acclimatization and weather contingency days.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, all climbers must have comprehensive travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking and mountaineering, medical expenses, and emergency evacuation.

Can I rent equipment in Nepal?
