Trekking in Nepal
Compare routes by time, altitude and pace
Nepal routes range from shorter Annapurna foothill walks to high-altitude journeys in the Everest, Manaslu and Langtang regions. Start with the days you have, the altitude you are prepared for, and whether you prefer a well-known trail or a quieter route.

Nepal is home to eight of the world’s fourteen 8,000-metre peaks. Trekking routes approach these mountains through rhododendron forests, glacier valleys, working monasteries and villages that have welcomed trekkers for generations.

More Than Mountains
Living culture
Stay in lodges run by Gurung, Tamang and Sherpa families. Visit working monasteries like Tengboche, where monks still hold daily prayers. Time it with Dashain, Tihar or Mani Rimdu and the trails are at their liveliest.
Scenery that changes daily
Subtropical forest, alpine meadow and glacier moraine, sometimes all in one week. And then there is Mustang, whose desert canyons and cave dwellings feel like a different country altogether.
Travel that gives back
Lodges, homestays and local guides help keep more of your trip spend in the communities you visit. When comparing operators, ask how they handle porter welfare and conservation fees.
When to Trek
Autumn
September to November
Often the clearest and busiest period. Build in flexibility for mountain weather and domestic flights.
Spring
March to May
Warmer days and rhododendron bloom. Visibility can vary later in the season, especially at lower elevations.
Winter
December to February
Cold at altitude, while lower routes such as Poon Hill can be a good fit. Check snow and lodge availability for your route.
Monsoon
June to August
Rain and cloud affect many trails. Upper Mustang is a common rain-shadow option, with separate permits and logistics.
